New animal welfare law approved

In Spain the animal welfare law has been approved recently, which aims to improve animals' living conditions and protect them from cruelty and abuse. This law establishes harsher penalties for those who violate animal welfare regulations and also includes measures to improve the protection of companion animals, farm animals and wild animals.
Additionally, the law also it establishes a national animal registry and an identification and control system to ensure greater protection and better living conditions for animals. The implementation of this law is an important step in the right direction to improve animal protection in Spain and promote a more responsible and respectful society toward living beings.
Regarding turtles, this new animal welfare law in Spain it also includes specific measures to protect these emblematic reptiles. Restrictions are established on the commercialization of turtles exotic species as pets and the responsible adoption of native turtles is promoted. In addition, measures are established to protect turtles in the wild, including banning the hunting or capture of wild turtles and protecting their natural habitats.
This law also includes measures to prevent the introduction of invasive species, which can be harmful to biodiversity and ecological balance, and to combat the illegal trafficking of turtles.
Some of the measures in the animal welfare law in Spain:
Trade in exotic turtles: The law establishes restrictions on the import, export and commercialization of exotic turtles as pets, with the aim of protecting these species and preventing their overpopulation in captivity.
Responsible adoption of native turtles: Responsible adoption of native turtles is promoted to prevent abandonment and improve their living conditions.
Protection of natural habitats: The law includes measures to protect turtles' natural habitats and prevent the destruction of their environment.
Hunting and capture prohibited: The law prohibits hunting and capturing wild turtles to protect these species and preserve biodiversity.
Fight against illegal trafficking: Measures are established to combat illegal trafficking of turtles, including harsher penalties for those who participate in these illegal activities.
Prevention of invasive species: The law includes measures to prevent the introduction of invasive species that could be harmful to the environment and biodiversity.
